On Monday, May 8, 2023, the Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg paid a visit to SESS along with Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot. The Grand Duke and his delegation were conducting a state visit to California focusing on space technology and sustainability. Luxembourg has a significant space industry with many industrial partners in the California. The group began their tour at Stanford's new Doerr School of Sustainability before making their way to SESS in the basement of the Durand building.

Professor Sigrid Elschot and Research Engineer Nicolas Lee provided a tour of the facilities in SESS, which include vacuum chambers, rapid prototyping equipment, and model cubesats. Raymond Lau, a PhD candidate in the lab, gave an overview of research being conducted by the students. With access to space becoming more ubiquitous, the work of SESS aims to contribute to a sustainable vision of the space environment.
